Over the last year, children across the country have been directly impacted by immigration actions carried out by federal agents in schools, childcare centers, neighborhoods, and homes. Since taking office,the Trump Administration has advanced a sweeping set of policies that attack immigrant families and undermine the well-being of children. In just the first weeks of 2026, immigration actions led to multiple traumatic incidents involving children: a five-year-old was used to apprehend his father, children as young as six months old were hospitalized after being tear gassed inside a car, a 17-year-old was assaulted and abducted from work, and a seven-year-old and her parents were detained outside a hospital while seeking emergency care.

Our brief below summarizes how children have been harmed by immigration actions and calls on Congress to reject additional funding for Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
