The Children Thrive Action Network along with several national and state organizations submitted the following public comment to the Department of Housing and Urban Development in response to the proposed rule on verification and eligible status under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1980. The proposed rule would eliminate the right of mixed status families to continue living in HUD-assisted housing, even though federal law gives these families the right to live together in HUD-subsidized housing. These harms are especially acute for children, affecting their development, health, education, well-being, and long-term potential.
